Espoo Rail Line
With the alliance model, we are building the first phase of Tampere's Ratikka Pirkkala-Linnainmaa alliance, which is a continuation of the completed Tampere tramway.
We are involved in the project as an alliance partner as part of a group in which NRC Group Finland is engaged in the construction, and AFRY Finland Oy and Sweco Finland Oy are responsible for the design. The common goal is to design and build a unique and new form of public transport for Tampere.
The construction of the project will proceed in two stages, and in the first stage, the tramway will be built to Pirkkala Partola and Tampere Niihama stops. Construction work began at the end of 2024 and is scheduled to be completed in August 2028. In the second phase, the construction of the tramway will continue from Partola to Suupa and from Niihama stop to Linnainmaa.
The first phase of Tampere Ratika's Pirkkala-Linnainmaa alliance covers approximately 7.1 kilometres and eight pairs of stops will be built on it. In Pirkkala, Partola and in Tampere, Niihama stops serve as temporary terminals in 2028. Phase two will include the building of the sections from Partola to Suuppa and from Ruotula to Linnainmaa. Tram traffic to Suuppa and Linnainmaa is scheduled to start in early 2032.
The implementation of the project includes tramway construction with street construction, skill construction, expansion of the current depot, as well as the construction of power supply stations. The construction of tramways in Tampere aims at an efficient public transport system that supports the compacting of the urban structure and urban development.
