Finnish technology company Steady Energy moved to new premises in Tuultenristi, Tapiola

Finnish technology company Steady Energy moved to new premises in Tuultenristi, Tapiola, in April 2025. How did the decision to move come about, and what expectations did the company have of the new office? In an interview, Steady Energy's Lauri Muranen tells how the rapidly growing organization found office space at just the right time that supports both the smooth running of everyday life and responsible values.

Could you briefly tell us about Steady Energy?

Steady Energy is a Finnish technology company founded in May 2023. Steady Energy designs, develops, and will build small nuclear power plants intended for heat production. Our background originates from the Technical Research Centre of Finland (VTT), where the concept was developed over several years. Our mission is to further develop and commercialize small nuclear power technology that enables energy companies to replace fossil fuels and other combustion-based production in urban heat generation.

As a growth company, our goal is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in energy production and thus combat climate change, while also reducing the consumption of natural resources in energy generation.

How did you decide to relocate at Tuultenristi in Tapiola?

Our previous office was located in Otaniemi, where the premises quickly became too small due to our rapidly growing staff. At the same time, the building where our office was located was unexpectedly scheduled for renovation. We were extremely lucky.

The criteria for the new premises included staying in the same general area, maintaining good public transport connections, and finding move-in-ready facilities. The premises at Tuultenristi were perfectly suited to Steady Energy’s needs, and it was fantastic that we were able to find such a pleasant office in such a great location on a tight schedule.

What expectations did you have for Tuultenristi? Have they been met?

All of our expectations, even the small ones, were exceeded, and the office was made ready for our use very quickly.

Everything works smoothly at Tuultenristi: the premises are comfortable, the views from the windows are beautiful, and the location is excellent. We were pleasantly surprised by the upgrade to such a modern working environment, as our previous office was more modest, as is often the case. Everyone has been extremely satisfied with Tuultenristi.

To what extent did sustainability and environmental considerations guide your choice of premises?

Sustainability and environmental considerations are part of our company’s DNA, so they naturally also guided our choice of premises at Tuultenristi. It was important to us that the building is heated by district heating, as it is an environmentally friendly form of heating.

In addition, the office is easily accessible and user-friendly, and its location enables smooth connections by public transport and bicycle. This encourages more sustainable modes of commuting and thus reduces the carbon footprint of daily work travel.

What kind of energy does Steady Energy produce at Tuultenristi?

I have never before worked in a place with this much drive and enthusiasm. People have come together to work toward solutions that can have a global impact on reducing greenhouse gas emissions and, more broadly, on preserving biodiversity.

From the perspective of our product and technology, the market looks very promising, and we have assembled an excellent team to carry this work forward. Genuine enthusiasm is hard to hide, and the energy you can sense in our office is truly unique.

Thank you for the interview,
Lauri Muranen, Head of Public Affairs, Steady Energy
