We delivered two new lifecycle schools for the municipality of Siilinjärvi, combining flexible learning spaces, safety and sustainable energy use.
We delivered modern, healthy, and adaptable school facilities for upper secondary and high school education at the Ahmo School Centre, as well as for primary education at Siilinlahti School. The goal was to create spaces that effectively serve students and the local community during evenings and weekends, while ensuring the long-term energy efficiency of the buildings.
We are responsible for the design, construction, and a 20-year service period, including optimizing the buildings’ energy consumption. The schools cover nearly 18,000 gross square meters and will accommodate approximately 1,260 students. Ahmo School’s multifunctional hall enables competitive-level volleyball and offers ample spectator seating, while the multifunctional space forms a functional whole together with the lobby, dining hall, and cabinet rooms.
The projects aim for a four-star rating in the Rakennustieto environmental classification.
Construction work started in 2023, and the schools are scheduled to be completed in stages between 2025 and 2027. Ahmo School Centre was awarded the Collaboration of the Year 2024, and Siilinlahti Primary School received the Best Foundation and Superstructure Site 2024 recognition, reflecting successful project management and cooperation.
The schools will provide safe, healthy, and energy-efficient learning environments that serve students, staff, and the local community in a versatile way even after completion.
