Jet grouting

Jet grouting is a method in which a suspension of water and cement, and possibly other alloying elements, is partially sprayed into the soil at high pressure, displacing the soil. Jet grouting displaces fine material from the soil and replaces it with cement.

Jet grouting is a technique used to reinforce soil by creating ground concrete columns. In jet grouting, the soil is removed by drilling to the desired depth. During the lifting of the drill bit, a cement suspension is sprayed into the ground with pressure, which, after hardening, forms a non-reinforced ground concrete column with the soil. The properties of the cement suspension, as well as the rotation and lifting speed, can be influenced by the strength to be achieved and other desired properties.

Jet grouting can be carried out under already existing structures without damaging the old structures. Thus, it is often used for repairing foundation structures and strengthening foundations, especially in the renovation of old buildings. In addition to vertical pillars, jet grouting can also be used to make tiles or wall-like structures, for example.

Applications for jet grouting

  • Foundation structures
  • Management of water permeability and erosion
  • Management of sinking
  • Reinforcement
  • Foundation reinforcement of existing buildings
  • Remediation of contaminated soil
