Tietotie 6, Espoo, Finland

Tietotie 6 old office building was renovated for school use in Espoo, Finland.

We also carry out successful school projects based on traditional contract models. One of these successful projects is the conversion at Tietotie 6 in Espoo, Finland. The property is now home to the new Otaniemi upper secondary school, which was created when the Olari and Pohjois-Tapiola upper secondary schools were merged.

The previous owner of the property, Regenero, a joint venture by YIT and HGR Property Partners, renovated the old office building into school and office premises and sold it to Special Investment Fund eQ Care.

The leasable area of the property is approximately 26,000 square metres. YIT started the demolition and conversion work in 2017 and actual renovation work in spring 2018. The premises leased to various units of the City of Espoo were taken into use in early 2019 and the upper secondary school in August 2019. The new school will provide approximately 800 students with top-quality facilities including gyms and auditoriums.

As part of the project, Jussi TwoSeven painted a mural, designed in cooperation with the school. The logo of the school is Otakarhu, designed by the students.
