The Southern end of the old hospital area is developing

The development and planning of Mind Mech are underway. The zoning plan has been confirmed.

In 1884, Helsinki's first public hospital was completed in the Marian area, where it operated until 2014. Some of the old hospital premises were renovated, and in 2016, Maria 01, a startup campus, began its operations there. Over the years, it has grown and established itself as the largest startup community in the Nordic countries.

However, Helsinki has lacked a focused hub for growth companies and large corporations' R&D units, where businesses can innovate together and leverage mutual synergies under one roof. The need for a novel, community-oriented campus that brings together growth and technology companies is evident.

Now is the time to develop the southern part of the old hospital area, both in terms of spaces and services. The planned growth and technology campus will accommodate approximately 5,000 new jobs. The majority of this new complex will consist of flexible office and meeting spaces. Additionally, there are plans for accommodations, restaurants, commercial and service areas, wellness and fitness facilities, and event spaces.

The future growth and technology campus will connect growth-oriented companies, investors supporting future stars, and large corporations with their innovation functions. These partnerships will offer international development opportunities and collaborations for growth companies.

The guiding principle for the area's development is that the upcoming campus will foster natural interactions, leading to world-changing solutions through collaboration and rapid experimentation. Mind Mech aims to unite the world's most challenging problems with the best problem solvers.

The Growth and Technology Campus offers spaces that support innovators who are changing the world, a well-established and functional ecosystem, and services for various stages of a company's lifecycle—from the birth of ideas and innovations to becoming an internationally growing startup and a large corporation.
