Wind farm solutions from project development to construction

Wind power has been globally the most rapidly growing form of energy production for a couple of decades already, and the growth is expected to continue in the coming years. Wind power technology has developed significantly in recent years and, at the same time, the power of wind turbines has doubled. We are able to implement wind power solutions on a turnkey basis from project development to construction of wind farms.

Our service concept supports the customer from the wind farm development phase to construction, for example, the selection of a suitable area. We develop the project and acquire permits for it in cooperation with the municipality and landowners. During the construction phase of the wind farm, our responsibilities include project management, civil engineering, the construction of the foundations of the wind power plant, and electrification with planning responsibilities.

We have implemented almost 200 wind power plant foundations, as well as built power plant infrastructure, such as roads, for our customers in Finland and Sweden since 2010. YIT has the competence required for the implementation of infrastructure for small and larger wind farms. 

YIT’s own wind power projects

Lestijärvi

The project consists of 72 wind turbines with a total capacity of approximately 400 MW. The project consists of three adjacent areas, each with their own finalised master plan. The total planning area is approximately 6,000 hectares. The project has legally valid building permits for the construction of 72 wind turbines. To transmit the electricity generated in the wind farm, a new 400-kV transmission line will be constructed  from Lestijärvi to Alajärvi next to the current Fingrid transmission lines.

YIT to sell Finland’s largest wind power project to OX2

Pyhäjärvi, Murtomäki

The Murtomäki wind farm developed by YIT was sold to the Ålandsbanken Wind Power Fund in 2020 complete with the required permits. The project consists of 15 wind turbines with a total capacity of approximately 90 MW. The project area of the wind farm is approximately 1,400 hectares.

Kyyjärvi, Peuralinna

The project consists of seven wind turbines with a total capacity of approximately 45 MW. The project was sold in the autumn 2019 as licensed and ready. The project area of the wind farm is approximately 750 hectares.
