Wind power solutions from the project development phase until production use

The need for energy is increasing strongly. Wind power has been globally the most rapidly growing form of energy production for a couple of decades already, and the growth is expected to continue in the coming years. We contribute to developing renewable energy forms with our own wind power projects, innovative infrastructure solutions for wind power farms and a service concept that covers the entire life-cycle of wind power plants.

Our comprehensive service concept supports the customer from the project development phase until production use. We help find the right solutions from the development phases of wind farms. Our competence covers the development of wind farms, starting from the selection of a suitable location. We develop the project and acquire permits for it in cooperation with the municipality and local land owners. In the implementation phase, our offering covers project management, earthworks, wind power foundation solutions and electrical engineering, including the responsibility for design.

We have implemented almost 100 wind power station foundation for our customers since 2010. YIT has the competence required for the implementation of infrastructure for small and larger wind farms.

YIT’s own wind power projects

Kyyjärvi, Peuralinna

We are planning 7 wind power stations to Peuralinna, located in Kyyjärvi in Central Finland. The project area of the wind farm is approximately 750 hectares. The master plan was approved in the municipal council in summer 2015 and it became legally valid in summer 2016. The deviation decisions allowing the construction of larger power stations were approved in the municipality in autumn 2018. The building permit application process was started in early 2019.

      • Scope: 7 power stations
      • Total capacity: approximately 30 MW

Lestijärvi

We are planning 72 wind power stations to Lestijärvi located in Central Ostrobothnia. The project consists of three adjacent areas, each with their own finalised master plan. The total planning area is approximately 6,000 hectares. All three master plans were approved by the Lestijärvi municipal council in summer 2015, and they became legally valid at the beginning of 2018. The building permit application process was started in early 2019. To transmit the electricity generated in the wind farm, a new 400-kV transmission line will be constructed from Lestijärvi to Alajärvi next to the current Fingrid transmission lines.

Pyhäjärvi, Murtomäki

We are planning 15 wind power stations to Murtomäki in the city of Pyhäjärvi located in North Ostrobothnia. The project area of the wind farm is approximately 1,400 hectares. The master plan was approved in the city council in 2016 and it has become legally valid. The deviation decisions allowing the construction of larger power stations were approved in autumn 2018. The building permit application process was started in early 2019.

          • Scope: 15 power stations
          • Total capacity: approximately 65 MW

Punkalaidun, Isosuo and Arkkuinsuo

Two separate wind power areas are planned to the municipality of Punkalaidun in Pirkanmaa in cooperation with YIT and Ilmatar Windpower Plc. The master plan covering the 6 wind power stations of the Isosuo area was approved in the municipal council in 2015. The master plan became legally valid in summer 2017.

The Arkkuinsuo wind power area is located approximately 4 km south from the Isosuo area. The development area solutions for three wind power stations in the Arkkuinsuo area were approved in 2017.

            • Scope: Isosuo 6 power stations and Arkkuinsuo 3 power stations
            • Total capacity: approximately 30–45 MW

Huittinen, Taraskallio

We are planning a wind farm project for the Taraskallio area of the city of Huittinen located in Satakunta. Land lease contracts have been signed and preliminary nature studies conducted in the project area. Decisions on the further development of the project will be made in spring 2019.

            • Scope: 5–8 power stations
            • Total capacity: approximately 25–40 MW
