Water works and shoreline construction

We have participated in the development of both international and Finnish harbours. All shoreline construction is carried out by our professional personnel.


We carry out shoreline construction with different techniques: with slip form retaining wall elements as well as piled quay structures and underwater excavation.

With our water works equipment, we can carry out, for example, the dredging and excavation of harbour basins and waterways. We have the tools necessary for the cost-efficient planning and implementation of stabilisation of the dredged sediment masses. We continuously develop our existing water works equipment.  

In order to improve the usability of shores and increase the value of areas, we have participated in the construction of new shoreline structures and the renovation of existing ones. For example, we have repaired lighthouses, laid underwater foundations for bridges and also developed underwater foundations of wind farms. We have also implemented projects in accordance with the wishes of the museum authorities. 

We are able to implement the dredging, piling, element construction, stonework and all above and underwater work required for shoreline construction sustainably with high quality.

Shoreline construction also includes beacon installation

Beacons are used for the controlling of waterway traffic and for navigation, built on water or near it on the shore. Beacons may be stationary or floating, lit or unlit. They are usually fitted with reflectors to improve visibility in when it’s dark. Stationary beacons can be installed like piles by driving them until the load-bearing base or rock or by installing them into an excavated opening in the rock. Beacons may also be founded on a concrete caisson. The foundation method is selected based on the depth and the ground type of the seabed.

Floating beacons are anchored to the seabed. The anchor chain may be tight or loose. A tight anchor chain does not allow the beacon to move around its anchoring point, whereas loose anchoring allows free floating.
