UPM Head Office, Helsinki

Head Office in a prime location in Helsinki.

The new UPM Head Office was completed at the end of 2013 in the Töölönlahti area, a prime location in Helsinki. The building, dubbed the Biofore Building, is considered one of the most successful new buildings in the centre of Helsinki. Nearly 17,000 square metres in size, the building was designed by Architects Helin & Co.  The Biofore Building’s architecture highlights the forest and wood, which exemplify the corporate identity of UPM. The property’s construction engineering work was carried out by YIT Construction as a project management contract.

The Biofore business premises particularly support the comfort and well-being at work of UPM’s employees. The building has silent work rooms for those who wish to work in peace, but it also has separate spaces for brainstorming and more informal gatherings. Effective and flexible use of space makes economic sense: compared to the previous facilities, the costs of using the new head office are around a third lower.

The Biofore Building has been granted a LEED Platinum environmental certificate.
