Salmisaari I |
The former coal warehouse area of the Salmisaari power plant is developing into a lively office district. The first office building, Salmisaari I, was built in 2007. The building developer was Ahlström Capital Oy, and YIT Construction Ltd adopted the overall contracting responsibility.
The building comprises approximately 11,500 m² of headquarter-level office space, designed by Arkkitehtitoimisto Helin & Co.
Ruoholahti has become one of the most attractive office districts in Helsinki, with the highest utilisation rate in the city. The Salmisaari area became available for office use as the power plant adopted underground coal storages. 97,000 m² of new office facilities, a 20,000 m² sports facility and a boat harbour have been planned in place of the old coal warehouse.
